About heicjpgpng.com

A free, private converter that makes iPhone photos open everywhere – without ever uploading them.

Why this site exists

iPhones save photos in HEIC, a modern format that keeps great quality at about half the size of a JPG. That’s good for your storage, but not always for the people you share with. Windows PCs often show blank icons, many upload forms reject .heic files, older Android phones can’t open them, and print services don’t always accept them.

heicjpgpng.com was built to fix that in the simplest possible way: open a web page, drop your photos, download JPG, PNG or PDF files. No software, no account, no waiting for uploads.

How it works

Most online converters send your files to a server, process them there and send them back. This site works differently. When you open the converter, your browser loads a WebAssembly build of libheif, the open-source library that decodes HEIC images. The conversion then runs in a background worker on your own device.

That has a few practical consequences:

  • Your photos are never uploaded. We can’t see them, store them or share them – they simply never reach us.
  • It’s fast. There is no upload or download time; your device does the work directly.
  • It works offline. After the first visit, the site’s files are cached so you can convert photos without an internet connection.
  • There are no artificial limits. Convert one photo or a thousand – only your device’s memory sets the pace.

Our principles

Privacy first. Photos stay on your device. By default the converter even removes the GPS location from converted JPG and PNG files, so you don’t share where a picture was taken by accident. Read the details in our privacy policy.

Free and unlimited. No sign-up, no watermark, no daily quota and no file-size cap.

Accessible. The site works with a keyboard and screen readers, supports light and dark themes, and runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Samsung Internet on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android, iPhone and iPad.

Multilingual. The converter and its guides are available in several languages, each written for the people who read them rather than translated word for word.

How the site is funded

Running and improving the site costs time and money. It is funded by advertising: you may see ads served by Google AdSense next to the converter and articles. Personalised ads are only shown if you agree to them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer. The ads never have access to your photos.
